Technology Ideas

  • Use a technology tool for students to make their timelines: Tiki-Toki; SmartDraw; Timeglider; or Timeliner.
  • Connect to another class via Skype and share different types of poetry. Teach them several different types of poems and have the other class identify which type each poem is.
  • Use Animoto, VoiceThread, or similar multimedia tools to illustrate student created poems.
  • Use Skype to allow students to interview a wider variety of people. Students may interview individually, as small groups, or as a class. Use these tips from Digitally Speaking to prepare for the videoconference.
  • Create a class illustrated multimedia presentation of Hebrew poetry and student created similar spiritual poetry. Share in church.
  • Challenge other classes to a Jumping Jack Challenge. Connect to other classes via Skype to do jumping jacks together and see how many you can do all together!

  • Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand: Great biography of Louis Zamperini. Could be a read-a-loud and has many connections to Eric Liddell and his athletic abilities.

Technology Ideas

  • Use Skype to connect to a school or class in China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong. Or connect with a student's Chinese relatives. Use these tips from Digitally Speaking to prepare questions for the videoconference.
  • Use Google Earth to learn more about China and various locations in this unit.
  • Create video clips of parable skits or multimedia presentation of parables and share in church on Sabbath.
  • Share multimedia or video religion reports in church on Sabbath.
  • Use Google Earth to map out all the countries and places studied with the class cultural studies.
  • Use Skype to learn more about the countries the students are researching. Brainstorm together whom you might connect with to interview.
