Technology Ideas

  • Create autobiographies in a multimedia format using a tool such as KidPix, PowerPoint, Animoto, VoiceThread or similar tool. Have students write it by hand first; then publish in a multimedia tool.
  • Collect the data from the "Studying Our Bodies" section (p. 21 of the NAD Blackline Masters). Use a Google Form to collect the data and/or create classroom graphs with Create A Graph online or Graph Club or similar kid-friendly graphing software. Your interactive whiteboard might have a graphing tool with its software also.
  • Use Kidspiration or your interactive whiteboard's concept mapping software to make comparison maps between characters.
  • Use students to recreate specific scenes from the story. Create a digital story book using those pictures and the students narrating the story.

  • Use Kidspiration or your interactive whiteboard's concept mapping software to make comparison maps between the Sky House story and the book The Gardener.
  • As a prewriting activity, have students use a brainstorming tool like Kidspiration to map out the pieces they want to include in My Special Place.

  • Have students plant flowers/or make paper flowers and give them to someone in your Church, or Neighborhood.
